WHAT WE DO
ARTS, ACADEMICS & ATHLETICS
The Core of Our Program
Young people need to move! We're working on developing a basketball training program, youth league, and tournaments to help encourage the growth of our athletes. Photography, music, drawing, painting, graphic design and pottery have been a part of our summer camp and will also be included in our programming next year.
SUMMER CAMP
We worked with over fifty Junior High and High School students during the summer of 2021, engaging in Arts, Academics, Athletics and Educational Travel.
COMMUNITY SPACE
Young people need a safe, consistent, and positive place to be after school. In partnering with the City of Carthage, we provide a community space so students can do homework with internet access, focus on their projects, and enjoy community events such as movie nights. We provide food during meal hours. We provide one of the only bilingual community spaces in Carthage where english and spanish speaking students are both supported.
YOUTH MENTORSHIP
Sometimes the thing young people need most is a caring adult outside of their family who is interested in their growth and development: interested in who they are as a person. We're here to support, push, encourage and model a way forward.
EDUCATIONAL TRAVEL
Expanding Horizons. We’re excited to be taking fifty students to the Civil Rights Museum in Jackson as part of our 2021 Summer Camp. We will take educational trips to historical and educational sites in Mississippi, the US South, and hopefully as far away as Washington D.C.
